Introduction:

The essays in this section describe some of the most important topics in the field of religion. What is often seen as conflict between liberal and conservative forces in society can be frequently traced to disagreements about the nature of sin.

Sin is major foundational concept in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and in many other religions. It is certainly one of the most important themes in the Hebrew Scriptures (a.k.a. Old Testament) and Christian Scriptures (a.k.a. New Testament).

Our web site is mainly directed to North Americans. Because about 77% of Canadians and Americans regard themselves as Jews, Christians, or Muslims, the initial essays in this section will -- at least initially -- concentrate mainly on sin as it is described in the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures.
