The Hebrew and Christian Scriptures (a.k.a. Old and New Testaments) are ambiguous on the matter of the morality of abortion.

bullet Conservative denominations and traditions tend to interpret Scripture passages as forbidding abortion.
bullet Liberal faith groups tend to see the Scriptures as either saying nothing about abortion, or allowing it.
bullet Mainline groups tend to be in conflict over the topic.
bullet Secular groups tend to derive their beliefs about abortion from sources other than religious texts.
