Help if you have a crisis pregnancy All options discussed
Sponsored link.
If you are pregnant and don't want to be:
We urge you to consider all of your options carefully, and obtain all the
information that you can before choosing your best (or least worse) option.
After having an abortion, some women sincerely regret taking that action. Some
suffer from Post Abortion Syndrome for years
afterwards. Generally these are women who:
Were pressured into having an abortion.
Were not informed about the processes of pregnancy.
Believed, either at the time of the abortion or afterwards, that
abortion murders a human being (rather than terminates the life of a
potential human person).
TeenBreaks.com is a pro-life web site that features many personal
stories of young women who were pressured into having an abortion or who had an
abortion against their beliefs, or who didn't think things through. See:
http://www.teenbreaks.com/ Unfortunately this web site only reports stories
of young women who were devastated by their abortions; they do not give a
balanced picture. One study reports that almost 80%
of women "felt relief and satisfaction" soon after the abortion and
that long term guilt or depression were rare.
It is a big decision. We suggest that get all the information you can, and
decide with care.
If you don't know what to do or where to turn, you might seek counseling that will explore all of your options.
Consider:
Phoning one of the hundreds of help lines in North America. Most
are anonymous, confidential and staffed by trained volunteers who
care. They go by a variety of names: distress lines, crisis centers,
suicide prevention bureaus, etc. Even though the words "crisis"
and "suicide" often appear in their names, most of their
calls are from people in distress and who simply want someone with
whom they can talk.
In the U.S. see:
http://suicidehotlines.com/ for a listing of help lines by
state. There is a also a national hot line at 1-800-784-2433.
In Canada, look for a number on the first or second
page of your telephone book, or in the "distress center"
topic in your yellow pages.
Phoning your local community information
center, women's center, or sexual assault crisis center. They usually have
an information data base on local agencies and should be able to
direct you to a suitable agency. Ask for an referral that will counsel
you in all of your options. If you have a choice of agencies, consider selecting
one that does not have a financial interest in performing abortions
and does not take a pro-life stance. They should be freer of any conflict of interest.
If none of the above information lines exist in your area, then:
Phone a clinic or counseling center listed in the yellow or white pages
of your telephone book under
"Abortion providers"
Phone your local Planned Parenthood Federation clinic.
Americans can find the number of the
clinic closest to you by calling 1-800-230-PLAN. This is a toll free call; no
record will appear on the phone bill. There is no corresponding service
in Canada, to our knowledge.
