Author's note:

Religious persecution and harassment is of worldwide concern.

The core problem is not Muslims and Atheists attacking Christians. Rather, it is intolerance by followers of majority religions or communist governments whose official religion is Atheism, who violate the human rights of followers of  minority religions.  Indications of such intolerance is found in many countries of the world. For example:
bullet In Northern Ireland, Roman Catholics and Protestant Christians had been committing terrorist acts against each other for decades in what was known as "The Troubles." Fortunately, in what might be a great example for the rest of the world, negotiation and dialogue created an agreement to end the assassinations, terrorist attacks, and other forms of violence. The country is now enjoying relative peace.

bullet In many the sections of the former USSR (including Russia), serious state persecution is directed at many minority religions and small Christian faith groups.

bullet Even some governments in western Europe, panicked by fear of sects and cults, are withdrawing basic freedoms from minority religious groups -- particularly Muslims. France in particular has been limiting clothing choices of Muslim women. Recently Quebec in Canada plans to introduce a secular Charter of Quebec Values which would severely limit religious expression in clothing to followers of all religions who are directly or indirectly employed by the provincial government
