About copyrighted documents:
The Internet is filled with unauthorized copies of many copyrighted works, in
violation of international law. For example, our essay on Islam
has been pirated by two known web sites, without acknowledgment -- one of them
is an Islamic site. Laws generally allow a person to quote text from works
copyrighted by others as long as the quotation is sufficiently short. We have
seen 400 and 500 as commonly used upper limits on size, beyond which permission to duplicate from the owner of the copyright
should be sought.
Our use of other group's copyrighted material - Fair use notice:
We typically report all viewpoints on each topic. This often requires us to
use copyrighted material in our web site's essays. This use may not have been
specifically authorized by the copyright owner. Such material is made available
on a nocharge basis for educational and discussion purposes only. We believe
this constitutes a 'fair use' of any such copyrighted material as provided for
in U.S. federal law17 USC § 107. (We cite U.S. law because over 90% of our site
visitors are from the U.S.)

Our use of Bible quotations:
We often quote the same passage from a variety of Bible translations. This is
to indicate the degree of bias in these translations.
We normally quote from the King James Version, even though it is a difficult
translation to use because of its antiquated English from the early 17th
century. That is because there are no copyright limitations on this translation.
 | KJV passages are taken from the King James Version of the Bible,
whose copyright ran out centuries ago. Its text is now in the public domain. |
 | NASB passages are taken from the NEW AMERICAN STANDARD
BIBLE (registered), Copyright 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973,
1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation. Used by permission. |
 | NIV passages are taken from the HOLY BIBLE, NEW INTERNATIONAL
VERSION®, Copyright 1973,
1978, 1984 by International Bible Society. Used by permission of
Zondervan Publishing House. All rights reserved. The "NIV" and "New
International Version" trademarks are registered in the United States
