Overview:

These prophecies share one factor in common with all of the other predictions that were to come to pass in previous years: In spite of the obvious sincerity of the persons making the prophecies, none actually materialized.

The hey-day of prophecy appears to be over. Dozens of predictions of the end of the world were were made for 1999 and 2000. But, by the year 2003, people seem to have become disillusioned at the continual failure of the industry. Few prophecies are being predicted for 2003 or future years. Still, such fundamentalist Christian leaders as Jack van Impe continue to predict imminent doom and enjoy high ratings on television.

Predictions of TEOTWAWKI (The end of the world as we know it):

bulletSometime in 2003: Sree Vishiva Karma Veera Narayana Murthy, an avatar of Krishna will arrive to establish a 108 year reign of dharma (righteousness). This will be preceded by four years of: a rain of blood in towns and villages, circulation of poor quality coins, the appearance of male goats and oxen with mammary glands that can be milked, and the appearance of many incurable diseases.
bullet2003-MAR-23: Paul, an Orthodox Christian, stated on MAR-8 that God wants the inhabitants of Los Angeles "to believe" -- presumably in some version of Christianity, to repent of their sins, and to stop the creation of pornographic movies. Since they have have not done this, God will destroy Los Angeles CA with an asteroid from outer space.
bullet2003-MAY-15: The Pana Wave Laboratory group in Japan believes that the world will be destroyed by a series of disasters on this date. A planet will move close to the earth and will cause "cataclysmic" changes. The earth's magnetic pole will reverse on this day, and cause tidal waves and earthquakes. In early May, they set up a camp on a mountain road 170 miles west of Tokyo. They covered their vehicles with white cloths, which they believe will protect their leader and members from "harmful electromagnetic waves," which they think originate from communists. The group was established in 1977 and has about 1,200 members in Japan. Their leader, Yuko Chino, 69, preaches a blend of Christianity, Buddhism and New Age beliefs.
bullet2003-Late spring/early summer: Space aliens called Zetas are communicating through their earthly contact, Nancy. They describe how a comet visits earth every 3657 years. During this pass, the earth will pass through its tail. This will stop the earth's rotation for a few days. There will be "gigantic Lightning Bolts occur in the upper atmosphere, Violent Winds occur, and petrochemicals formed in the skies rain down in Firestorms; then, as the core of the Earth attempts to align magnetically with the giant comet, there is a Pole Shift with Continental Rip and Sinking and Rising land; how gigantic Tidal Waves assault the coasts, though Water Movement began when rotation stopped, and an Ocean Vortex can form; how plate shifts can result in a Sinking Atlantic floor, affecting the surrounding shorelines; but how the Other Planets will be little affected." The earth will start rotating again, but with new poles, equator, geography and climate. The ice caps will melt and the ocean will put shorelines under water. Sounds like a wild ride. 1
