Falun Dafa was introduced to the Chinese public in Changchun during 1992 by its founder, Li Hongzhi. It is a largely spiritual movement that incorporates:

bullet Buddhist principles,
bullet Taoist principles,
bullet Qigong: body, mind and physical exercise, and
bullet Healing techniques.

However, the Falun Dafa is taught as more than this; it is seen a way of life. 1

The movement first experienced horrendous levels of persecution in China during 1999 which has continued to the present time.
