GERMAN LUTHERANS APPROVE BLESSING FOR GAY PARTNERS
Source: Reuters News Agency, 1997-FEB-9
Welt am Sonntag, a German newspaper, said that on FEB-7 a
Protestant church council in northern Germany had voted in favor of
blessing the relationships of same-sex partners, as long as their
partnership resembles a marriage. The Lutheran church synod is located
in the town of Rendsburg.
The bishops of the Lutheran Church have veto power over the decision;
they have a month to decide whether to exercise that veto.
