To the rest of us, they're:

	"Stubborn" like Rosa Parks, when she sat down in the front of the bus.
	"Stubborn" like Gordon Hirabayashi, when he stood up against the internment of Americans of Japanese Ancestry.
	"Stubborn" like Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving, when they challenged the [Virginia] law against interracial marriage.
	"Stubborn" like U.S. Representative John Lewis of Georgia, when he told Congress: "As politicians and elected officials, we should not only follow but we must lead...not put our fingers into the air to see which way the air is blowing, but be leaders. I will not turn my back on another American. I will not oppress my fellow human being. I have fought too long and too hard against discrimination based on race and color not to stand up against discrimination based on sexual orientation."

We commend the these four State Senators and their eleven colleagues for having the courage to stand up for what's right. And we urge everyone in Hawai`i who believes in fairness to contact them and thank them for defending our civil and human rights.
