Religiously motivated
Internet hate sites against homosexuals

Overview:
Some faith groups, particularly those from the conservative wings of various religions,
teach that homosexual behavior is a sin. They devoutly
and thoughtfully believe that this is supported by their sacred texts.
In the case of Christianity, some believers feel that passages in Genesis, in the rest of the Hebrew
Scriptures and in the Christian Scriptures condemn
all forms of homosexual behavior -- even consensual sex within a committed
relationship.
Some individuals and groups have taken hatred of homosexuality one step further and
advocate genocide against gays and lesbians. They do not want to even permit homosexuals to
live.
The following essay is extremely critical of a number Fundamentalist and other
Evangelical Christian hate sites. We do not set out to attack conservative Christianity. It is just that we have never found an anti-gay hate site maintained by
mainline or liberal Christians. Religious liberals tend to accept homosexuality as a
normal, natural sexual orientation for a minority of humans. Some mainline denominations
tend to still regard homosexuality as a sin, but they often advocate for equal rights for
gays and lesbians.

Antidote to Hate:
One of the finest Web sites dealing with homosexuality, the Bible and Christianity is
by Dr. Rembert S. Truluck. He holds a Doctor of Theology degree from Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He was Professor of Religion at Baptist
College of Charleston SC from 1973 to 1981. He was outed at that time as gay, and
resigned. His Web site is: "Steps to Recovery from Bible Abuse: A
response to the abusive use of the Bible against Gays and Lesbians and all others
oppressed and alienated by religion." at: http://www.truluck.com
