Stories of Kat, a transgender

Future transgender debates.
The term "LGBT" is an acronym for "Lesbians,
transgender persons/Transsexuals. Sometimes, additional letters
added, like "Q" for Queer or questioning, "I" for Intersexual.
The story of Kat, a transgender youth from central New York State:
On 2015-JUN-16, the New York Times posted a video on their web site titled: The New Girl in School: Transgender Surgery at 18." 1 It discusses the extreme conflicts experienced during her teen years by Katherine ("Kat") Boone. She was registered as a boy at birth, but now identifies herself as female. She underwent gender reassignment surgery (GRS) during 2015-APR at the age of 18. That is the minimum age at which some insurers and medical practitioners will agree to performing GRS.
She went through severe physical reactions to anesthesia, narcotics, and antibiotics used during the GRS. She developed pneumonia, experienced vomiting, and lost about 20 pounds. However, she recovered and says that she has "zero regrets."
2015-JAN-17: Transgender parents who conceived two sons naturally:
The ABC-TV program 20-20 featured a Georgia family with two sons and parents who are transgender and of opposite sexes. In its first five months online, the video accumulated 2.1 million views, 19,948 "likes," and 1,648 dislikes.
Perhaps because of its controversial theme, this video attracted 7,199 comments posted during it first five months online! Two comments, representing intense opposing and rigid views, are reproduced below with grammar and spelling corrected:
"So you think God accepts this? this is an abomination and I know you should treat people like people no matter their sins but that doesn't mean we should accept it, and worse, subject the children to it. This is sickening. What is wrong with the world? Man has made a mockery of what God has created. They weren't born in the wrong body; they were the way God intended them. I have my own sins but there's a difference. These people aren't repenting and trying to live better. They believe they are doing what's right. They need Jesus. God bless those children and give those parents guidance."
Jimena Casis responded:
"I stopped reading when this ignorant f--k mentioned God. You know what God wants? He wants us to love each other the same way He does. He doesn't hate anybody. He will not ... hate someone because they are a little bit different. So shut your mouth because of people like you, others think [all] Christians are cruel and stupid. We are not like that. God didn't teach us that. So get out of here.
2015-JUN-18: Why will transgender topics probably receive increasing attention in the future?
There are two obvious reasons:
Gay marriage (a.k.a. same-sex marriage). As a result of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's ruling in Goodridge v. Department of Public Health, same-sex couples in that state have been able to marry since 2004. Over the next 11 years, additional states followed suit so that by early 2015-JUN, about 72% of loving, committed same-sex couples in the U.S. were able to marry in their state. On 2015-JUN-26, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling in a lawsuit Obergefell v. Hodges. The ruling legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and four out of five U.S. territories. (The exception is American Samoa where most people are considered American residents and not American citizens. As a result, the rulings by the High Court often do not apply there.) A number of
anti-gay groups which have been named by the Southern Poverty Law Center as "extremist" organizations -- including the Family Research Council, Westboro Baptist Church, American Family Association, and Traditional Values Coalition 3 -- almost immediately, redirected much of their activity from fighting marriage equality towards discriminating against transgender persons and transsexuals.
Preserving the religious freedom to discriminate by public accommodations against the LGBT community. "Public Accommodations" are normally retail companies who provide goods and/or services to the general public. Dozen wedding cake bakers, wedding photographers, wedding venue renters, etc. across the country have refused to deal with customers who are making preparations for their same-sex wedding. In most cases, customers simply went to another supplier. However, in perhaps a dozen cases, the couple has laid charges under their state's or municipality's human rights legislation and ordinances. These prohibit public accommodations from discriminating against customers on the basis of the latter's skin color, race, religion, national origin, etc. Many states and local governments include sexual orientation and/or gender identity in their list of protected classes.
For the same reason, groups that promote LGBT equality have transferred much of their effort to promote the rights of, and protections for, transgender persons.
