About ISIS:

It is a terrorist group whose long-range goal is to create a world-wide Islamic caliphate. A caliphate has been defined as:

"... a form of Islamic government led by a caliph -- a person considered a political and religious successor to the Islamic prophet, Muhammad, and a leader of the entire Muslim community." 2

Unlike the United States, whose government follows the principle of separation of religion and state, a caliphate follows the full integration of the Islam religion and the state.

The group declared in mid 2015-JUN that their more immediate goal is to impose an Islamic caliphate to include all of present-day Iraq, Syrai, Jordan and Lebanon.
