This section deals with matters of human sexuality of a general nature, not
included in the above lists.
We just started this list in mid-2003, so there is not much to report at this
time.

2003-JUL-10: House refuses to block grants: Representative Pat Toomey,
(R-PA), unsuccessfully attempted to block House approval of a group of four
grants for sexual research:
"Mood arousal and sexual risk taking," to be conducted by the
Kinsey Institute. This appears to be a study of how people become careless
about protection against pregnancy and STDs when they are sexually aroused. In
the words of a comedian whose identity is forgotten: "When God created men,
he gave them a brain and sexual organs, but only enough blood to run one at a
time."
"Sexual habits of older men," a study by New England Research
Institutes Inc.
"Drug use and HIV-related behavior by San Francisco's Asian prostitutes
/ masseuses," by the University of California-San Francisco's
Department of Medicine.
"American Indian and Alaskan Native lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgendered and 'two-spirited individuals'," by the University of
Washington. Before the arrival of Christianity,Native Americans
had historically been accepting of persons with minority sexual orientations
and characteristics.
Toomey said: "I ask my colleagues, who thinks this stuff up? These
are not worthy ... of taxpayer funds." Representative David Obey, (D-WI)said: "We have no business making political judgments on those issues."
The grants were approved by an extremely narrow vote of 212 to 210. 1
