2006-FEB-27: "God is One" Project: The National Council of Churches, USA, the Islamic Society of North America, and Hartford Seminary are co-sponsoring a project to enhance the knowledge of Islam among Christians, to improve the attitude of Christians towards Muslims, and to encourage building relationships between Churches and Mosques in local communities. The project is built around a book by R. Marston Speight, a retired United Methodist minister, called "God is One: The Way of Islam" with an associated study guide written by Jay Rock, Director of Interfaith Relations of the Presbyterian Church, USA. Two pilot projects have been scheduled in March to train adult education leaders in churches near Hartford, CD and New York City, NY so that they can organize adult education sessions in their congregations. _1,2
