2003-JUL-11: Bosnia: "Burials a step to forgiveness:"
Thousands of Bosnian Muslims gathered to inter the remains of 282 Muslim
males, aged 14 to 79, who were part of a contingent of 7,000 males
exterminated in cold blood by Serbian Orthodox Christians eight years ago.
The Serbian Orthodox population ignored the ceremony. Many deny that the
massacres happened. More than 5,000 body bags filled with human bones
await DNA analysis. More killing fields with mass graves continue to be
found. But there was a positive note: For the first time, an official
delegation from the Bosnian Serb government was present at the
remembrance. That is at least a first faltering step towards resolution
and eventual forgiveness. 10
