Cosmology, the study of the origin & structure of the universe:

Two Conflicting Videos
About The Shape Of The Earth:
Flat, Cubical, Spherical?

Cube earth

Cubical earth: A third option?

horizontal rule

The first video:

It is called "Flat Earth in 5 minutes", and has been published multiple times by ODD TV on You Tube. It attempts to prove that the Earth is flat, using multiple reasons.

It was published on 2016-AUG-29, with the caption:

"A brief overview of our flat earth in 5 minutes."

The video discusses many indicators of a flat earth:

  • The surface of a body of water -- from a glass full to an ocean -- is always level.

  • Images of a spherical Earth have been faked.

  • NASA freely admits that we cannot go to the moon or to outer space.

  • The horizon rises to eye level no matter what the elevation is.

  • Views of the Toronto skyline, Chicago skyline, island of Kauai from a great distance shows no curvature of the Earth's surface.

  • The Michelson & Morley experiment during the late 19th century shows that the earth, sun, and galaxy do not move.

  • Crepuscular rays from the Sun prove that the Sun is very close to the Earth.

  • Eclipses of the moon.

As of 2017-MAR-13, the video had received 856,110 views, 7,448 "likes," 8,544 "dislikes," and 18,159 comments!

A half dozen of the funniest and most interesting comments by viewers were:

  • "Watching YouTube videos for 2yrs. + Jesus + meth = Flat Earth."

  • "And I guess a Solar eclipse occurs when they change the batteries of the light ball we call the sun F..king Retards."

  • "they don't believe in NASA so no space, no moon landing, no satellites, even gravity does not exists, so it's waste of time to argue with them"

  • "... we are entering an age of commercial space ventures. People like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Sir Richard Branson are spending billions on space research. Why are they doing that?"

  • "This channel is a special level of ignorant isn't it? "Flat-Earthers" Not sure if trolling or really just that dense."

  • "Here's a challenge to the flat earth people. Throw me off the edge."

The second video:

It is called: "Flat Earth Falsities -- 'Flat Earth in 5 Minutes' Debunked," by "VoysOvReason."

It was published on 2017-JAN-22, with the caption:

"This is a video response to a video called "Flat earth in 5 minutes", by ODD TV, which makes several common claims made by flat earthers, but as I show, they are all scientifically inaccurate, and some are intentionally dishonest."

As of 2017-MAR-13, it had received 84,239 views, 2,318 "likes," 2,097 "dislikes, and 11,501 comments."

Seven of the funniest or most interesting comments by viewers were:

  • "Only disturbing if you feel science is a replacement of your religious needs. Flat earthers are essential to the advancement of science and scientific thinking."

  • "The flat earth is only ridiculous to that person who is gonna substitute the human need to believe in a hero with science. Science is science and is supposed to change when new discoveries are made. Its not a religion. Get a proper religion if you feel you don't want other belief systems changing. BE OPEN MINDED IF YOU DOING SCIENCE."

  • "You didn't even watch the video. Did you buy, just skimmed few seconds, and then said nope flat flat flat. Don't care about truth. ... Love lies love lies."

  • Earth is Flat bro, get over it. ... The moon landings were faked. There are no rovers on Mars. Space is Fake.

  • Yep. That sounds like your pseudo science religion with that wild theory of the Big Bang, evolution, gravity and the heliocentric theory."

  • "For millenia there have been people with incorrect ideas and beliefs...Nothing is really wrong with that...they learn and we advance. But what is different about these flat Earthers is that not only do they resist learning but they hold up their ignorance as an achievement! They really do think their inability to comprehend is proof that accepted principles are false! That's fascinating and infuriating and funny as hell at the same time!"

  • "... truly knowledgable, intelligent people always think that they don't know even a fraction of what they'd like to know, while willfully ignorant people always think that they are way smarter than they are. Stupid people are too stupid to know how stupid they are, while truly smart people understand that they know very little."
